Recipe Remix: Creating recipes, date banana bread, white sand beaches

I once thought I might become a recipe creator and very quickly realized that not only was the competition fierce (everyone’s a “recipe creator” these days), but my level of food creativity was subpar to say the least.

I’d spend hours scouring the internet for inspiration, but It was clear that the most I might be able to offer the world was my own spin on something already iterated on 10 times over.

Doing some of that research though led me to find the likes of Date Banana Bread, a mind blowing twist on the classic banana bread recipe which has literally rocked my family’s word.

Naturally, I took a deep dive 🤿 as outlined below…

Recipe Remix: SAVE BANANAS, MAKE DATE BANANA BREAD

Let me just start by saying that Date Banana Bread is a variation in the world of recipe creation that, dare I say, outshines its classic origins.

Yep, I said it.  Trash your go-to banana bread recipe right now.  Replace it with this one.

In this article, I breakdown the most common ingredients one might find in a banana bread recipe and highlight the various ways to modify it.  Safe to say the options are endless.

We then get into the #1 Date Banana Bread recipe on the internet and I take a crack at not only enhancing it (More bananas, please!), but also making it gluten-free.

RECIPES OF THE WEEK

Here are some other amazing finds I happened upon this week:

1Cucumber Salad – Only 5-ingredients and refreshing as heck.  Oh my!
Substitute the red wine vinegar for any vinegar alternative 1:1 (white vinegar, apple cider vinegar, rice vinegar, etc.).  I also enjoyed this recipe when omitting the sugar – definitely a nice addition, but it’s not necessary.
2Peach Cobbler – Peach season is officially here and it’s time to wow your next party with a little cobbler.
Peeling peaches is THE WORST, but this recipe author offers a neat little trick!  Sub out the all-purpose flour for a store-bought option or my own take on it:
Gluten-Free Flour Blend (*yields 4 cups):2 cups – white rice flour1 cup – tapioca flour1 cup – potato starch
3Huli Huli Chicken – Keeping up with the summer theme here, I can’t help but think of white sand beaches when making this dish.
Use tamari or apple cider vinegar instead of soy sauce (1:1) and add a splash of orange juice or pineapple juice in place of the brown sugar.
Basting is key.  Save some of that marinade and don’t skip this step!

Happy belated Father’s Day to all the dads out there.  Hope everyone’s having a great week otherwise.
