About This Site

Like me you’ve probably spent years testing and collecting delicious recipes from friends, family, cookbooks, and the internet – building out an empire of tasty dishes used to wow the pants off of the masses.

What if all of that suddenly came crashing down?

One minute, you’re on top of the world.  No recipe was off limits.  The [food] world was your oyster.

The next minute, life smacks you in the face with a food intolerance and boxes you into a world of indefinite dietary limitation(s).  Thanks, life!

In those initial moments of despair, it might be tempting to chuck your hard earned recipe collection in the trash, but STOP right there – put that recipe card box back on the shelf!

Because what if I told you that with a few recipe tweaks, you could still enjoy Grandma’s overnight 12-layer lasagna or the #1 ranked cookie recipe on the internet…?

What if I told you that those recipe tweaks might even improve upon those long-coveted family traditions and #1 internet claims…?

Enter: Functional Home Cooking

In a quest to conquer my own autoimmune issues and find some semblance of normalcy while learning to accommodate strict dietary requirements, I’ve spent over a 1,000 hours digging into the depths of the internet to answer this question:

How can I enjoy food again without compromising my dietary restrictions?

That question led me into this challenge:

  1. Find the BEST recipes out there.
  2. Figure out how to remix those recipes (i.e. find suitable ingredient substitutions), making them functional for my needs.

In turn, I hope to help you do the same!

It’s worth mentioning that this Functional Home Cooking philosophy has served as my north star throughout this journey.  Quite frankly, it has been the primary reason for my success in putting my autoimmune issues into stable remission. We’ll talk more about that here too.

I’m excited to have you here! Let’s get on with the goodness.
